Different Perspectives

"There is always two sides to a coin."

A true statement because when have you ever seen a one-sided coin? Regardless if there is something on the back, it is still a surface. But there does seem to be a missed fallacy within the statement. It is true a coin will always have two sides. What about the middle then? Or all the tiny ridges in dimes and quarters, each one of those ridges has four sides regardless of size. Interesting, huh?

I always try to show others the other side or sides of things in an attempt to them start thinking beyond what is perceived. You can call it critical thinking, three dimensional thinking, or mad ramblings from me, but I like looking at what is fact and what is perceived or felt.

Below, I am going to have some questions and facts, just to get your mind thinking. I am not saying I agree, condone, disagree, or condemn what is presented (that is a different post altogether); I am merely attempting to get your mind to see things differently. Furthermore, I ask you to throw some questions in. If you are having fun doing in it, keep the fun going.

The Public Restroom

We have all been out and about in our daily lives where we might need to use the current buildings restrooms. For the sake of argument, let's say it is No. 1. There's 5 guys in there. You do your business. Now it is time to wash your hands. Does it really matter if you do?

True, washing your hands lessens the risk of spreading communicable diseases. Let's say that 2 guys decided not to wash their hands, what is their reasons? The first guy says urine is sterile, hence what is the need to wash tiny sprinklets off your hands? The other guy is a bit more comical and says he washes his genitals in the morning, so he should be good all day.

So the guys leave the bathroom while the other 3 wash their hands. They too leave when they are done. So, it is now you. Are there paper towels to dry your hands? If so, you can wash away, dry your hands, and then use a paper towel to turn off the faucet and to open the door. If it only has the air powered machine, you can wash your hands, but you have more of a possibility of touching the dirty faucet and even worse, the door handle or door itself. Plus, who knows what those other 3 guys have touched, let alone the remaining 28% of the population that do not wash their hands when they go to the bathroom. And that statistic is for both waste removing activities.

Fast Food

I have been on this world for a little over 26 years and I accept the fact I may have had my food tainted with. Every time you go to a fast food joint, you run the risk of getting food prepared by some people who are nothing but angst, anarchy, and general dickheadedness. While the film, Waiting, does show some sort of honor code when it comes to these matters, there is always that one person who decides to go freelance. So while the percentage may be small, I can't be naive to think of all the burgers I have had, that one of them hasn't been dropped on the floor or licked.

Supreme Being

Ever wanted to know what it feels like to be God? Hold an insect in your hand. His life is entirely up to you. You can kill it, torture it, or let it go. You could also destroy it's home, or displace him entirely. Or you could save him and destroy his colony. While we know as humans we have no super powers, the insect believes otherwise. To the very least, we are seen as flesh golems.

A sub question is our perception of God any different? If we could see him, it could just possibly be a being more superior than us. If you look at the previous statements, is that not what the Old Testament God did? Or are we God?


Media

A good example of perception and reality. Regardless of whatever news channel you watch, it seems facts come secondary to sensationalism. It seems they want to keep us in a constant state of panic, so that we stay glued to their network. Ratings=$$$. I know that may sound a bit conspiracy theorist, but when has the news been just that? It seems a lot of journalists have their own show, reporting the same news, but with a crap load of editorializing.

Is it so hard just to present the facts? Case in point my TweetDeck just chirped from CNN Breaking News that stated, "A 6.3-magnitude quake has struck off the southern coast of Argentina; no reports yet of casualties." See facts.


While these may have not been stronger examples, they were meant to be simplistic in order for your mind to start seeing the dots. The dots are everywhere and can be connected in anyway. It's the way to think outside of the box, become the paradigm shift, or turn into a conspiracy theorist.

I hope you had fun reading and thinking. Remember, it's just a way to look at things differently and from different perspectives. To find out the truth and facts, that is only a matter of research. This is meant to be an exercise for your brain.

And your brain is the strongest thing you will ever have or need. Feed and exercise it well.
