Hugo Weaving = The Red Skull!

Any true dork knows that the Red Skull is Captain America's main nemesis. Today, the rumor became truth: Agent Smith himself, Hugo Weaving, will play the nefarious Nazi in The First Avenger!

The Red Skull was Cap's foil during World War II, which is the time period the film is focusing on. So, apparently, we'll get Steve Rogers' post-freeze story in The Avengers, unless they do a Cap sequel first (which seems highly unlikely, given that there's little time between now and the due date for The Avengers).

With the pitch-perfect casting of "Gossip Girl" star Sebastian Stan as Bucky and the beautiful Brit Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, the film is shaping up to be one that needs a special place on your calender... Captain America: The First Avenger premieres July 22nd, 2011.
