Matt's Person of the Month: Jeph Loeb

If you are into comic books, then this man needs no introduction. The same goes if you are into recent television. Let's say you are not in to either of those, you may know him from a few 80s movies. The man I present to you this month is Jeph Loeb.

After receiving a Bachelor's & Master's degrees in Film from Columbia University, Jeph (whose real name is actually Joseph) set out to put his mark on this world. In the 1980s, Jeph co-wrote the film, Commando, which would turn out to be a large success due to the action stylings of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jeph would also co-write the script to Teen Wolf as well as Teen Wolf Too.

Further into his career, he would help write and produce for a television program titled, Smallville. Other writing and producing credits include the second season of Lost as well as Heroes between 2006 and 2008.

It is in the realm of comics were he is most known. If you look at his collection as a whole, you are bound to find mixed reviews. However, he has received four Eisner Awards as well as five Wizard Fan Awards.

One his most accomplished comics is Batman: The Long Halloween. This was 1/3 the inspiration for the film, Batman Begins.

He is also collaborated with Tim Sale for the "color" series in the Marvel Universe. Such titles are Hulk: Gray, Daredevil: Yellow, Captain America: White, and Hulk (this one with the archvillian of Red Hulk).

After the death of Captain America, Loeb penned Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America. The story is told through various characters with each one depicting one of the five stages of grief.

It is safe to say, that Mr. Loeb has indeed left his mark upon this world. Regardless how you felt about Ultimatum or how awesome The Long Halloween is, his work will truly be remembered for generations to come.
